Lucas Trejo lost his wife and children in an earthquake in Venezuela, with their bodies found under rubble.

The search for Lucas Trejo's family ended tragically after they were found dead under the rubble of a building destroyed by the earthquake that rocked Venezuela. This football player from Argentina received sad news about his wife, Yanina Maranella, and their two children, Aaron and Ainhoa, who were found dead in Playa Grande, one of the areas worst affected by the earthquake. Rescue teams from El Salvador managed to find their bodies at the scene.

The building where the Trejo family lived, which was the Cumanagotto housing complex, experienced total collapse. This news has also been officially confirmed by Deportivo La Guaira, the club where Trejo has a career as a defender. At the time of the disaster, Trejo, 38, was in Caracas taking part in a cup match. His inability to contact his family forced him to seek help on social media in their search efforts.

Through an official statement, the Venezuelan club expressed their condolences to Trejo: "We share Lucas Trejo's sadness at the loss of his wife Yanina Maranella and children, Aaron and Ainhoa. May they rest in peace. We express our deepest condolences to Lucas and his entire family."

After the earthquake, several of Trejo's teammates participated in search and rescue efforts. Some players even shared videos from the affected areas, showing their commitment to finding the family of Trejo, who they called "a friend and brother in the world of football".

Originally from Córdoba, Trejo has been playing in Venezuela since 2016 after previously having a career in Colombia, Mexico and Peru. After receiving confirmation of this tragedy, Trejo chose not to speak and only uploaded a photo showing him together with his wife and two children, as a final tribute to his family.
