Who do Scottish supporters want as their next coach?

Bagikan:

Following Steve Clarke's resignation, Scotland fans began speculating about possible replacements, with names such as Ange Postecoglou and David Moyes emerging as leading candidates.

Steve Clarke and the Scotland squad have yet to leave their World Cup base, but attention is already turning to what happens next. The search immediately began following the shocking news of the head coach's resignation early Sunday morning, but who will replace him? Can you become a big name? Should they be Scottish? Who is a realistic candidate? Here's what fans are saying...

Tommy: I think Ange Postecoglou is a consideration, but her recent record is poor. Whatever happens, we have to accept that this is not a quick fix. The cast is very disappointing.

Neil: Postecoglou would be a perfect choice. He will make players play with confidence and style, and he can be pragmatic when needed.

Colin: Postecoglou. Let's push the ball forward quickly and put pressure on the team. It's time to abandon the 'let's keep it tight' philosophy we've followed since the 1990s.

Gordon: Postecoglou, a true winner, who knows the Scottish game, has had great success as coach of the Australian national team, and most importantly, knows how to get his players to score goals.

Kev D: Scotland should turn to Postecoglou. He has experience, having coached at the World Cup and in Scotland. His style will make the team look aggressive again and he has charisma and authority.

Mark: There's no rush, but I would look at Postecoglou, Kasper Hjulmand, and Jurgen Klinsmann as outside candidates. Whoever comes in has a good job as we will be at the next Euros with us being one of the host nations with a very good chance of qualifying from the group for the first time.

Ewan: Need someone with experience of Scottish and international football - could we consider Roberto Martinez if he leaves Portugal?

Gavin: Given there are no outstanding Scottish candidates, I would look at someone like Thomas Frank. He seems knowledgeable and intelligent with a tactical plan that works for our team.

AnonaScot: Pep is available.

Sophie: We need to do everything to ensure David Moyes is Scotland's next manager. Even if that means a temporary coach until he is available. He has the right experience and passion for Scotland.

Thomas: Good to see Clarke go. Davie Moyes will be the next manager in my opinion. I would prefer at least a Scottish coach.

Eric: There is only one Scottish candidate who stands out - David Moyes. Much better tactically and just as grumpy.

Euan: Moyes should be the first call. I'm sure he will be interested. It feels like we've been asking for Moyes for 15 years but it never happened. Clarke has built a good foundation, Moyes is a quality coach to take us to the next level.

Luke: His dream is Moyes but he is enjoying life at Everton. Derek McInnes went to Rangers too soon because he would have been very good too. I'll try to look at the passion and try Scott Brown.

Rory: I think Darren Fletcher, Scott Brown and Callum Davidson are my favorites for the Scotland job. They all know international football as players. And has a little coaching experience.

Joe: Alex Neil maybe. I think it would be McInnes if he doesn't go to Rangers.

Shaun: I'd take someone younger like Neil if it had to be a Scot. If a foreign coach, then Kasper Hjulmand is a good choice although not sure how likely.
