Watch USA vs Paraguay on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday, June 13, with kick-off at 2am BST. Live coverage of the opening game in Group D between hosts USA and Paraguay will take place at Los Angeles Stadium. USA, now coached by former Tottenham and Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, reached the last 16 as hosts in 1994. Despite having reached the knockout stages in four of the last six tournaments, they have managed just nine wins from 37 World Cup matches.

Paraguay return to the World Cup for the first time since 2010, when they reached their first quarter-final before being knocked out by reigning champions Spain. This is the ninth time they have qualified for the tournament. This summer's World Cup includes three host countries, and each will hold an opening ceremony before their first match. USA's grand opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 13 (BST), before their match against Paraguay. Global superstars like Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla will headline the stellar line-up.
All ceremonies begin 90 minutes before kick-off. The BBC will broadcast the opening ceremony for matches they hold broadcast rights to live on BBC iPlayer and on the BBC Sport website and app. You can also follow the 2026 World Cup live on the BBC Sport website, app, YouTube and social media. To enhance the fan experience during the tournament, BBC Sport will live stream the build-up and opening 10 minutes of their biggest matches on BBC Football's YouTube and TikTok channels for the first time - providing more ways for viewers to follow the action live, wherever they are.
