Manchester City have made a third bid for Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, seeking to secure the midfielder as a priority signing following the departure of Bernardo Silva. This latest bid comes after a previous bid was rejected, with Forest's owners seeking a record transfer fee.
Manchester City have launched a third bid for Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. The offer follows a package worth more than £120m being rejected by City Ground boss Evangelos Marinakis. City are also interested in Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali and admire 18-year-old Lille sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Manchester City officials have now submitted a third bid for England international Elliot Anderson, according to reports. Hugo Viana – Manchester City's sporting director – has identified the 23-year-old as the club's top transfer target, and a top priority to strengthen the midfield following the departure of Bernardo Silva on a free transfer this summer.
Etihad Stadium feel that the former Newcastle United star fits the profile of midfielder needed to perform well under new manager Enzo Maresca, who is expected to be confirmed as City's new boss in the coming days.
Manchester City are understood to have submitted an initial proposal of around £85m which was rejected by Nottingham Forest, before a second bid consisting of £106m guaranteed plus £15m in potential add-ons was also rejected at the City Ground. Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is believed to be handling talks personally, and wants to secure a new British transfer record for Elliot Anderson at a higher fixed fee than the £125m Liverpool paid Newcastle United for Alexander Isak last summer.
Now, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Manchester City have made a new and improved offer to sign England international midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
