Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been reappointed as Feyenoord's main coach, returning to the club where he previously achieved success as a coach and player.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been officially reappointed as Feyenoord's main coach on a two-year contract, with an option for a one-year extension. The 51-year-old coach takes over the position previously filled by Robin van Persie, who was sacked by the Eredivisie club after just 16 months in office. Van Bronckhorst was previously an assistant coach at Liverpool as part of Arne Slot's coaching staff, but he left the Premier League club earlier this month following Slot's sacking.
Prior to this, Van Bronckhorst served as Feyenoord coach from 2015 to 2019, where he won two consecutive KNVB Cup titles and lifted the Eredivisie trophy in 2017. His last managerial experience was at Besiktas in 2024, where he led the club to win the Turkish Super Cup, but was fired after five months due to poor results.
Van Bronckhorst is a product of Feyenoord's academy and spent five years as a player at the club from 1993 to 1998, before returning for a second spell from 2007 to 2010. "When you've been part of the club since the age of seven... yes, Feyenoord is a big part of my life," he said.
