Fodé Fofana Training at Heracles: "Maybe It's a Good Opportunity"

Fodé Fofana trains at Heracles Almelo over the next few weeks. The 23-year-old forward, who has previously struggled with injuries, now has the opportunity to maintain his fitness under the guidance of trainer Vincent Heilmann. The coach gave a positive signal regarding the possibility of extending the collaboration.

Fofana moved to Barcelona at a young age, but had to leave the club due to FIFA sanctions regarding the recruitment of underage players. After that, he joined PSV and was loaned to Vitesse in the 2023/24 season. In Eindhoven, he met Ernest Faber and Vincent Heilmann, who now serve as technical director and coach of Heracles.

After his contract at PSV ended, Fofana was forced to be unemployed for a year due to several knee injuries. His last official match will be in 2023. Now, he gets a chance at Almelo to get back fit. "He contacted the club and expressed his desire to train after suffering a serious injury," said Heilmann. "We worked together at PSV. He was a great talent, but had a lot of injuries. He asked for permission to train in preparation to be fit, and we gave him a chance. Maybe this is a good opportunity. If he is really fit - we are very enthusiastic and everything clicks - there is a possibility that more could happen."
